DAN SMITH

Insight:
During September, thousands of students leave home, to embark on their University lives. This leaves many home owners with an ‘empty nest’. This opens the door for an opportunity with Airbnb, during term time, to rent out these spare rooms.
Problem:
Many home owners don’t know the possibilities they can do with a spare room and are unaware of how safe renting out a spare room with Airbnb can be.
Solution:
With our ‘Empty Nest’ campaign, we will raise awareness of Airbnb’s safety throughout a range of media platforms.
"Empty Nesters"
Google Maps Partnership
Google Maps is frequently used by all ages to locate destinations. This partnership will work by displaying Airbnb properties on the map at the click of a button. Properties will show up as the Airbnb logo and once selected, will offer a brief summary of the property. Available dates, prices and images.
Partnering up with Google Maps will ensure that home owners feel a sense of familiarity towards the campaign, allowing them to connect their trust built up with Google, with Airbnb.

Empty Nest Showroom
By setting up a pop up ‘spare bedroom’ at University campuses across the UK during their open days, parents of the soon to be students will be able to take a look round our set up, showing them how convenient the service is that Airbnb has to offer. The room will look like an empty spare bedroom, decorated simply, influencing homeowners to make the most of the space, once their child has left for University.
It will be se up like this:

Airbnb representatives will be on site, handing out invitations to homeowners, inviting them to the next Airbnb ‘become a host’ talk in London. These invitations are specially designed to be interesting for a homeowner ages 35+ to read, rather than being a flyer that gets thrown away within minutes of being received, the invite has an image of a nest on it, tying in with the theme of the campaign, ‘empty nesters’. on the nest is a FREE gift of a carabiner clip, in the shape of the Airbnb logo.
Here is the flyer for the talk:
